Thee birth anniversary…again

the one where i begrudgingly turn a new age.

i can’t sleep so i decided to come here and share this moment with you.

the day i’ve been dreading since the first of january this year is finally here. now, i can heave a sigh of relief.

most people thought i was joking when i said as long as it’s legal, then i want to postpone my birthday for this year.

there is a permanence that comes with turning a new age, that forces you to look, really look within yourself and ask yourself: WHAT IN GOD’S NAME ARE YOU DOING? it’s often momentary for some people but it has the same effect nonetheless.

maybe it’s the series of expectations i had for myself when i get to this point or the current circumstances i am surrounded by in this moment but it looks like the usual excitement that accompanies a day like this flew over my head.

in a bid to sprinkle some pizzaz, here’s a list of 9 things i’m grateful/proud/excited for in the hopes that before i get to the 9th point, i’ll feel sleepy so i can live at least 50% of today in my head.

• the gift of writing

• God

• the progress i’ve made so far in my career as a digital marketer

• family (true friends + close family members)

• love (of every kind or form)

• psychology

the first time i heard the original version of this song, i sat stupefied throughout, wondering how such a beautiful thing could exist and i was just finding out about it.

then i heard this version almost a year later and my God! i cried from the sheer beauty of this song.
